A stroll through the libraries – AI and the SDGs

The libraries at Lund University are jointly focusing on the Global Goals. Libraries in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö participate in different ways during The Sustainability Week. Check out one, several or take a full day and visit them all. A warm welcome!

SDG 2 | Asia Library
Asia Library highlights Goal 2 – Zero hunger by showcasing examples from its collections in the fields of food studies, food culture, and food politics in East and South-East Asia. By featuring these highly interdisciplinary genres, the library brings attention to the diverse factors underlying sustainable food production and consumption through an Asian Studies lens.

SDG 3 | Medical Faculty Library Lund
Our theme is AI and technical tools in connection with goal 3; Good health and wellbeing. There is ongoing screening for AI as a screeningtool (Breast cancer, and more), fall prevention etc. We will showcase books and articles on technical tools within Medicine.

SDG 4 | The Library of Malmö Academy of Music
The Library of Malmö Academy of Music highlights SDG 4: Quality Education. We present examples of how digital tools and AI are used in artistic research and teaching at the faculty. We also offer recommendations on new literature on AI and the fine and performing arts.

SDG 8 | Social Sciences Faculty Library and Campus Helsingborg Library
At the Social Sciences Faculty Libraries (Sambib in Lund and Campus Helsingborg Library) we highlight Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, with some additional focus on its relevance to recent developments in AI. We have posed questions to researchers at our faculty who work in this area. The exhibition presents their answers and offers reading suggestions.

SDG 12 | School of Economics and Management Library
At the School of Economics and Management Library there will be an exhibition focusing on AI and Sustainable Development Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. In our exhibition during the Sustainability week, we want to reflect and speculate on the future of consumption, based on the faculty's research. We also want to highlight AI and sustainability.

SDG 15 | SOL Library
SOL Library highlights Goal 15 – Life on Land by showcasing examples from its collections in the fields of ecocriticism, ecofiction, and climate fiction. By featuring these literary genres, it brings attention to important environmental and climate issues, as well as how society can engage with global challenges.

SDG 15 | Biology Library
The Biology Library highlights goal 15 – Life on Land. During the Sustainability Week, we will focus on biodiversity research, but also show examples of how new technologies are creating new possibilities for research. One example is how AI-supported image interpretation and mobile apps have contributed to research on moths, which we previously have known little about.

SDG 16 | Law Library
"AI and Law" encompasses many things: human rights, copyright, ethics, legal certainty, data protection, liability and more. The Faculty of Law Library is showcasing a minor book exhibition with examples of research on AI that directly or indirectly supports Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions. Welcome!

SDG 11, 15 and 16 | Lund University Library
The Arena group for sustainability questions/Agenda 2030 is organising a series of presentations on AI and sustainability, focusing on goals 11.15 and 16. The University Library, which is still undergoing renovation in the spring, will open up the main entrance for these events to welcome you to Bromansalen.
Search the calendar for Chat SDG – research on and with AI and you will find the three presentations with researchers who approach the topic from different perspectives.

The event is part of Sustainability Week 2025, which runs between 5-10 May. Sustainability Week is an annual event in Lund organised as a joint venture by Lund University and Lund municipality. The week serves as a platform for bringing together ideas, raising public awareness and for inspiring sustainable change.
